Chrome was the metal du jour of 1990's Hong Kong. Architects seem
to have specified it as a reflex action, and today it stands as shining,
ubiquitous testimony to their collective worship at the shrine of capitalist glitz.
Because there's nearly always some interesting distortion or juxtaposition,
reflections are easy meat to a photographer. In this portfolio, I've attempted
to go beyond the obvious and adopt an almost painterly approach to the cityscape
in which the photos become a series of canvases portraying what is still, in many
ways, Asia's most dynamic metropolis. Incidentally, those with a penchant for the
Hitchcock-esque might care to study plate ten for an indulgent, yet discreet,
appearance by the artist…
