Black and white photography is all about light and shadow. That, for me, is what makes it such a compelling medium, and I love the possibilities that unfold and then pass away within minutes as the rising or setting sun changes position and angle. While photographing at Lanna House, a unique residence and antiques gallery in Northern Thailand, I witnessed so many fleeting yet magical examples of this that I vowed to return and shoot a new series on this theme alone. The ten photographs you see here were taken over a two day period in February 2000 as objects, both organic and man-made, cast their shadows and their spell on the morning and evening hours.
